About Us

Cambodia Tribunal Monitor is a consortium of academic, philanthropic and non-profit organizations committed to providing public access to the tribunal and open discussion throughout the judicial process.

Sponsors include:

Center for International Human Rights at Northwestern University School of Law

Led by Professor David Scheffer, former U.S. Ambassador at Large for War Crimes Issues (1997-2001), the Center for International Human Rights focuses on researching and addressing emerging human right norms and related issues as well as providing valuable clinical experiences for students interested in the protection of human rights on a global scale.

Documentation Center of Cambodia (DC-Cam)

DC-Cam is an independent non-partisan Cambodian research institute. Its two main objectives are to record and preserve the history of the Khmer Rouge regime for future generations, and to compile and organize information that can serve as potential evidence in a legal accounting for the crimes of the Khmer Rouge.
DC-Cam's Strategic Plan 2009-2011

The Illinois Holocaust Museum and Education Center

Since 1981, the Illinois Holocaust Museum and Education Center, based in Skokie, Illinois, USA, has fought prejudice and defended human rights through remembrance and teaching of the events surrounding the Nazi Holocaust. The organization is widely recognized as having led the effort to secure enactment of the Illinois Holocaust Education Mandate and, more recently, the 2005 amendment to the mandate to include the teaching of other genocides.

The Illinois Holocaust Museum and Education Center recognizes that its members must not only be bearers of Holocaust history, but active educators against hatred, indifference and genocide in the world today. Whether it was 65 years ago during the Holocaust or over 30 years ago during the Cambodian atrocities, much of the world remained silent and indifferent. This is a collective history all people share as human beings. The Museum represents the commitment to stand firm and defend the basic human rights denied to so many throughout history, to take action to prevent atrocities, and to pursue vigorously the goal of justice for all victims of such acts of hatred and inhumanity.

Members of the Illinois Holocaust Museum and Education Center are dedicated to preserving the legacy of the Holocaust and honoring the memories of those who were lost by teaching universal lessons that confront hate, prejudice and indifference. The museum fulfills this mission through the exhibition, preservation and interpretation of its collections and through educational programs and initiatives that foster the promotion of human rights and the elimination of genocide.

J.B. & M.K. Pritzker Family Foundation

The J.B. and M.K. Pritzker Family Foundation is a Chicago-based philanthropy headed by venture capitalist J.B. Pritzker, partner and founder of New World Ventures and managing partner of The Pritzker Group. The Foundation is a private family foundation deeply committed to the pursuit of social justice and to shaping innovative and effective strategies for solving society’s most challenging problems.

Guided by these compelling principles, the Foundation awards grants to support programs, policies, research, institutions and nongovernmental organizations which advocate and advance its mission. Among the more prominent illustrations of the Foundation’s commitment to these principles are its partnership with the new Illinois Holocaust Museum and Education Center in suburban Chicago and its sponsorship of The Children’s Initiative, a project devoted exclusively toward efforts that improve the quality of life for infants, toddlers and their families.
